Final Exams:

Fall Art Final (Due the day of your final):

In February we have an art show called the heART ART Show at The Sweet Spot located: 1675 Hilltop Dr, Redding, CA 96002. This show will have all of my art students involved with a single piece of art illustrating the theme of a heart. It is my expectation that each heart is different. The opening is February 3rd from 6pm-8pm and I was told that the owner will be lining up a band to play at the opening. You may sell your work at this show or you could choose to not sell it (NFS).
Challenge: On a piece of found wood, please create the following:
Create a heart using any medium/media. Think first? What is a heart? What types of hearts are out there? What does the symbol of an heart mean? How is the heart illustrated in our culture? Other cultures?

You may choose how many hearts, what size heart(s), how realistic, how symbolic and/or how abstracted the heart will be illustrated.
You must choose a voice: What are you trying to say with your piece? How are you using the elements and principles of design to visual explain what your heart is saying?
You many not plagiarize. If you like an art piece and want to paint/draw something similar? you may use it as a reference but you must change it at least 50%!
Along with your heart art piece you must create an artist statement and send it to me on the day of your final. Lwilhelm@suhsd.net . Please use the following to help you create your artist statement:
First and Last Name

Explain your piece to the viewer. The following questions are here to help you explain your project to the viewer. Please answer these question using complete sentences and feel free to explain further if necessary: What is the meaning behind your heart? How did you try to portray this? Can you share any insight for the viewer as to how your piece was created?
Your statement must be 150 words long, have at least 2 elements, 2 principles and 5 vocabulary words (please do not underline these. I will be using your artist statements in the show).
